Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife officials is accepting applications for one sport fishing representative and one public at-large representative to the Fish Restoration and Enhancement Board.
The application deadline is Oct. 31.
Created by the Oregon Legislature in 1989, the Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees. The program’s seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.
Board members are appointed by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission to four-year terms. They meet three or four times each year in various communities throughout the state to review project funding applications, hear public testimony and conduct other program business. Board members are volunteers; however, board-related business expenses are reimbursed.
