With just five weeks until the district swimming meet, Coach Doug Peargin was extremely pleased with the performances of both the mens and women’s squads Saturday at the alway-competitive French Prairie Invitational, Woodburn.
“This is one of the largest 3A invitationals in the state,” Coach Peargin said of the 15-team field.
His Huskies mounted an impressive campaign, placing second overall in combined scored as well as in both the mens and women’s divisions.
“”We took 27 swimmers to this meet and 21 of them swam lifetime bests,” Coach Peargin said. “We had so many big swims by the entire team that it’s hard to pick any one individual as having the best swim unless I name the entire team.”
Coach Peagin said his swimmers are “a little ahead of where we were at this time last year…but we still have room for improvement. Stroke by stroke we’re getting there.”
Some 22 of the 27 Husky swimmers placed at the meet.
“Our kids did a great job,” Coach Peargin said.
