A train derailed after a trestle collapsed in Corvallis Saturday, Jan. 4, leaving one train car in the Marys River and two others dangling off the bridge or partially in the water.
The train, operated by Portland & Western, derailed after the structural failure of the train trestle over the Marys River, said the Corvallis Police Department in a statement.
The train was carrying agricultural materials at the time of the incident. No injuries have been reported.
Emergency response teams, including local firefighters from the City of Corvallis Fire Department and local law enforcement from Corvallis Police Department were actively on the scene, following the crash, working to stabilize the situation and ensure public safety.
Northwest Firefighters, an ecological recovery company has been engaged to deploy containment booms in the nearby Marys River to filter any potentially leaked materials.
Police asked that the public stay out of the area and follow all roadblocks, detours, and directions from local authorities as recovery efforts continue.
