Lebanon’s girls and boys both defeated Woodburn in tennis on Thursday, April 9, the boys winning 5–3 at home and the girls by the same score on the road.
The Warrior boys got a 6-2. 6-2 from No. 1 singles player senior Landyn Whitney.
Lebanon swept the doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Hunter Jacobsen and Silas Fitchett won 6-1, 6-2; the No. 2 team of sophomores Benjamin Klinger and Joshua Allydice won 6-0, 6-1; the No. 3 team of sophomore Nick McLoed and junior Daniel Doerzpf won 6-1, 6-1; and the No. 4 team of senior Grant Basting and sophomore Alvin Villa-Madrid won by default.
Meanwhile, the Lebanon girls won three singles and two doubles matches to leave with a 5-3 win.
No. 1 singles player Junior Alison Frey delivered a 6-1, 6-1, while senior Hailey Destowet won the No. 2 singles match by the same score, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Anne Workman won the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0.
The doubles teams had to go harder for their wins. Seniors Greta Abbott and Daniela Sanchez-Guzman came away with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 doubles match and the No. 3 team of sophomores Kendall Sowa and Elizabeth Goodwin won 6-2, 6-4, 6-1.
On April 7 the Warriors had a stiffer challenge against McKay
The girls fell 5-3, all three of their wins coming in singles .
Frey won the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-2; Destowet won 6-1, 6-4 and sophomore Brooklyn Davis won 6-3, 6-0.
The boys had a tougher day in a 7-1 loss. Their only win came from No. 4 singles freshman Colton Parrish (6-2, 6-2).
